9. What allah (azwj) has specialised the imams (asws) from progeny (asws) of muhammad (saww) with, from the wilayah of the determined ones (ul al-azam prophetsas for them (asws) regarding the covenant and others

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مُفَضَّلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع‏ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‏ وَ لَقَدْ عَهِدْنا إِلى‏ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَ لَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْماً قَالَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ فِي مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَتُرِكَ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عَزْمٌ فِيهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ هَكَذَا وَ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ أُولُو الْعَزْمِ أُوْلِي الْعَزْمِ لِأَنَّهُ عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِمْ فِي مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَ الْمَهْدِيِّ وَ سِيرَتِهِ فَأَجْمَعَ عَزْمُهُمْ أَنْ ذَلِكَ كَذَلِكَ وَ الْإِقْرَارَ بِهِ.


1. It is narrated to me by Abu Ja’far Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Mufazzal Bin Salih, from Jabir, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) regarding Words of Allah Mighty and Majestic: And We had Covenanted to Adam before, but he forgot, and We did not find for him having determination [20:115]. He (a.s.) said: ‘Covenanted to him (as) regarding Muhammad (saww) and the Imams (a.s.) from after him (saww), but he (as) neglected and there did not happen to be any determination for him (as) that they (a.s.) are like that. And rather the determined ones (Ul Al-Azam) have been named as the determines one because He Covenanted to them (as) regarding Muhammad (saww) and the successors (a.s.) from after him (saww), and the Mahdi (a.s.) and his (a.s.) ways, and He United their (as) determination that, that is like that, and the acknowledgment with it’’.




حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ الْعِجْلِيِّ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى حَيْثُ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ خَلَقَ مَاءً عَذْباً وَ مَاءً مَالِحاً أُجَاجاً فَامْتَزَجَ الْمَاءَانِ فَأَخَذَ طِيناً مِنْ أَدِيمِ الْأَرْضِ فَعَرَكَهُ‏ عَرْكاً شَدِيداً فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ وَ هُمْ كَالذَّرِّ يَدِبُّونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ بِسَلَامٍ وَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِ الشِّمَالِ يَدِبُّونَ إِلَى النَّارِ وَ لَا أُبَالِي ثُمَّ قَالَ‏ أَ لَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قالُوا بَلى‏ شَهِدْنا أَنْ تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هذا غافِلِينَ‏ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الْمِيثَاقَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّينَ فَقَالَ‏ أَ لَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ أَنَّ هَذَا مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَ أَنَّ هَذَا عَلِيٌّ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالُوا بَلَى فَثَبَتَتْ لَهُمُ النُّبُوَّةُ وَ أَخَذَ الْمِيثَاقَ عَلَى أُولِي الْعَزْمِ أَنِّي رَبَّكُمْ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَ عَلِيٌّ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ أَوْصِيَاؤُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وُلَاةُ أَمْرِي وَ خُزَّانُ عِلْمِي وَ أَنَّ الْمَهْدِيَّ أَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِي وَ أُظْهِرُ بِهِ دَوْلَتِي وَ أَنْتَقِمُ بِهِ مِنْ أَعْدَائِي وَ أُعْبَدُ بِهِ طَوْعاً وَ كَرْهاً قَالُوا أَقْرَرْنَا وَ شَهِدْنَا يَا رَبِّ وَ لَمْ يَجْحَدْ آدَمُ وَ لَمْ يُقِرَّ فَثَبَتَتِ الْعَزِيمَةُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ الْخَمْسَةِ فِي الْمَهْدِيِّ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لآِدَمَ عَزْمٌ عَلَى الْإِقْرَارِ بِهِ وَ هُوَ قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‏ وَ لَقَدْ عَهِدْنا إِلى‏ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَ لَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْماً قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَعْنِي فَتَرَكَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ نَاراً فَتَأَجَّجَتْ فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِ الشِّمَالِ ادْخُلُوهَا فَهَابُوهَا وَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ادْخُلُوهَا فَدَخَلُوهَا فَكَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ بَرْداً وَ سَلَاماً فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ يَا رَبِّ أَقِلْنَا فَقَالَ قَدْ أَقَلْتُكُمُ اذْهَبُوا فَادْخُلُوهَا فَهَابُوهَا فَثَمَّ ثَبَتَتِ الطَّاعَةُ وَ الْمَعْصِيَةُ وَ الْوَلَايَةُ.


2. It is narrated to me by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Dawood Al Ijaly, from Zurara, from Humran, From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) having said: ‘When Allah Blessed and Exalted Created what exists, (also in that) Created water which was sweet and water which was salty and bitter. He Mixed the two streams of water and Took the clay from the Earth. He then Mixed it with a severe mixing. He Said to the companions of the right hand, and they were in that like particles: “Walk to the Paradise in safety”. And Said to the companions of the left hand: “Walk to the Fire and I don’t Care”. Then Said: “Am I not your Lord?” They said, ‘Yes, we testify’. (He Said): “Lest you should be saying on the Day of Judgment, ‘We were oblivious of this’” [7:172]. He (a.s.) said: ‘Then the Covenant was taken from the Prophets (as). He Said: “Am I not your Lord?”?’ Then Said: “And this here is Muhammad (saww) the Rasool (saww) of Allah , and this here is Ali (a.s.) Emir of the Momineen”. They (as) said: ‘Yes.’ He Affirmed the Prophet-hood for them (as), and Took the Covenant on The Determined Ones (Ul Ul-Azam): “I am your (saww) Lord , and Muhammad (saww) is My Rasool (saww), and Ali (a.s.) is Emir of the Momineen and the successors (a.s.) after him (a.s.) are the Masters of My Command (Wali Al-Amr), and the Reservoirs of My Knowledge, and by the Mahdi (a.s.) of My religion will be victorious, and My government will be manifested, and revenge will be taken from My enemies, and I will be worshipped willingly or unwillingly”. They (as) said: ‘We testify and accept, O Lord .’ Adam (as) neither reject it nor accept it or showed any determination for those five (a.s.) regarding the Mahdi (a.s.), and there was no determination on accepting him (a.s.), and this is in the Words of the Mighty and Majestic: And We had Covenanted to Adam before, but he forgot, and We did not find for him having determination [20:115]. He (a.s.) said: ‘It means that he (as) neglected’. Then He Ordered the Fire to be inflamed. He Said to the companions of the left hand: “Enter it”. They did not do it. And Said to the companions of the right hand: “Enter it”. They entered it, and it was for them cool and safe. The companions of the left hand said, ‘O Lord , reduce it for us.’ He Said: “I have Reduced it for you, go, enter it!” They did not. Thus it was confirmed, the obedience, and the disobedience, and the Wilayah’’.




وَ رَوَاهُ أَيْضاً عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ مِثْلَهُ.


3. And it is reported as well from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Hisham Bin Salim, from a man, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) – similar to it.




حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْقُمِّيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ فِي قَوْلِهِ‏ وَ لَقَدْ عَهِدْنا إِلى‏ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ‏ كَلِمَاتٍ فِي مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍ‏ وَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمْ‏ فَنَسِيَ‏ هَكَذَا وَ اللَّهِ أُنْزِلَتْ‏ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ ص‏.


4. It is narrated to us by Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Mu‘alla Bin Muhammad, from Ja’far Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Isa Al Qummi, from Muhammad Bin Suleyman, from Abdullah Bin Sinan, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) regarding His Words: And We had Covenanted to Adam before, [20:115] – Words regarding Muhammad (saww), and Ali (a.s.), and Al-Hassan (a.s.), and Al-Husayn (a.s.) and the Imams (a.s.) from their (a.s.) offspring, but he forgot, [20:115], that is how Allah Revealed unto Muhammad (saww)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنِ الثُّمَالِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع‏ إِنَّ عَلِيّاً آيَةٌ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ص وَ إِنَّ مُحَمَّداً يَدْعُو إِلَى وَلَايَةِ عَلِيٍّ ع‏.


5. It is narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Aamir, from Abu Abdullah Al Barqy, from Al Husayn Bin Usman, from Muhammad Bin Al Fuzeyl, from Al Sumali who said, ‘Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said: ‘Surely, Ali (a.s.) is a Sign of Muhammad (saww), and Muhammad (saww) called to the Wilayah of Ali (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى‏ وَ إِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ‏ إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ قَالَ أَخْرَجَ اللَّهُ مِنْ ظَهْرِ آدَمَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَخَرَجُوا كَالذَّرِّ فَعَرَّفَهُمْ نَفْسَهُ وَ لَوْ لَا ذَلِكَ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ أَحَدٌ رَبَّهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ‏ أَ لَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قالُوا بَلى‏ وَ إِنَّ هَذَا مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولِي وَ عَلِيٌّ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ خَلِيفَتِي وَ أَمِينِي.


6. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Musa, from Ali Bin Hassan, from Abdul Rahman Bin Kaseer, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) regarding Words of Allah the Exalted: And when your Lord Seized from the Children of Adam, their offspring from their backs [7:172] – up to the end of the Verse. He (a.s.) said: ‘Allah Extracted from the back of Adam (as), his (as) offspring (to be) up to the Day of Judgment, and they came out like the particles. He Introduced them to Himself , and had it not been that, no one would recognise his Lord . The He Said: ‘“Am I not your Lord?” They said, ‘Yes’ [7:172], and this is Muhammad (saww) My Rasool (saww) and Ali (a.s.) Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) My Caliph and My Trustee”’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنِ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: أَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَى نَبِيِّهِ‏ فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِالَّذِي أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ عَلى‏ صِراطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ‏ قَالَ إِنَّكَ عَلَى وَلَايَةِ عَلِيٍّ وَ عَلِيٌّ هُوَ الصِّرَاطُ الْمُسْتَقِيمُ.


7. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Khalid Bin Hammad and Muhammad Bin Al Fuzeyl, from Al Sumali, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) having said: ‘Allah Revealed to His Prophet (saww): Therefore adhere with that which is Revealed unto you, surely you are upon a Straight Path [43:43], he (a.s.) said: ‘You (saww) are upon the Wilayah of Ali (a.s.), and Ali (a.s.), he (a.s.) is the Straight Path’’.




حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع‏ إِنَّ عَلِيّاً ع آيَةٌ لِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ إِنَّ مُحَمَّداً يَدْعُو إِلَى وَلَايَةِ عَلِيٍّ ع.


8. It is narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Aamir, from Abu Abdullah Al Barqy, from Al Husayn Bin Usman, from Muhammad Bin Al Fuzeyl, from Abu Hamza who said, ‘Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said: ‘Ali (a.s.) is a Sign for Muhammad (saww), and that Muhammad (saww) called to the Wilayah of Ali (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‏ وَ إِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَ أَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلى‏ أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَ لَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ‏ قَالَ أَخْرَجَ اللَّهُ مِنْ ظَهْرِ آدَمَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ كَالذَّرِّ فَعَرَّفَهُمْ نَفْسَهُ وَ لَوْ لَا ذَلِكَ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ أَحَدٌ رَبَّهُ وَ قَالَ‏ أَ لَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قالُوا بَلى‏ وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَ عَلِيّاً أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ‏.


9. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Musa, from Ali Bin Hassan, from Abdul Rahman Bin Kaseer, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) regarding Words of Mighty and Majestic: And when your Lord Seized from the Children of Adam, their offspring from their backs and Made them testify against their own selves: “Am I not your Lord?” [7:172]. He (a.s.) Said: ‘Allah Brought out from the forehead of Adam (as) his (as) progeny up to the Day of Qiyamah like particles. They knew Him themselves, and had it not been for that, no one would have recognised his Lord . And Said: “Am I not your Lord ?” They said, ‘Yes.’ He Said: “And this here is Muhammad (saww) the Rasool (saww) of Allah , and Ali (a.s.) the Emir of the Momineen (a.s.)’’.
