حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ هُوَ مَعَ أَصْحَابِهِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَنَا وَ اللَّهِ أُحِبُّكَ وَ أَتَوَلَّاكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع مَا أَنْتَ كَمَا قُلْتَ وَيْلَكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ثُمَّ عَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا الْمُحِبَّ لَنَا فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ رُوحَكَ فِيمَنْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْنَا فَأَيْنَ كُنْتَ فَسَكَتَ الرَّجُلُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَ لَمْ يُرَاجِعْهُ‏.


1. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Salih Bin Sahl, ‘A man came to Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) and he was from his (a.s.) companions. He greeted unto him (a.s.), then said, ‘By Allah ! I love you (a.s.) and befriend you (a.s.)’. Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) said to him: ‘You are not as you say. Allah Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years (millenniums), then Presented to us (a.s.) the one who loved us (a.s.). By Allah ! I (a.s.) did not see your soul to be among the ones presented to us (a.s.). So, where were you?’ The man was silent at that and did not respond to him (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَشْهَدِيِّ مِنْ آلِ رَجَاءٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنَا وَ اللَّهِ أُحِبُّكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ كَذَبْتَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَحْلِفُ بِاللَّهِ أَنِّي أُحِبُّكَ فَتَقُولُ كَذَبْتَ قَالَ وَ مَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ وَ أَسْكَنَهَا الْهَوَاءَ ثُمَّ عَرَضَهَا عَلَيْنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا مِنْهَا رُوحٌ إِلَّا وَ قَدْ عَرَفْنَا بَدَنَهُ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُكَ فِيهَا فَأَيْنَ كُنْتَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع كَانَ فِي النَّارِ.


2. It is narrated to us by Ibrahim Bin Hashim, from Amro Bin Usman, from Abu Muhammad Al Mashady, from the family of Raja’a Al Bajaly, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) having said: ‘A man said to Amir Al-Momineen Ali (a.s.) Bin Abu Talib (a.s.), ‘O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.)! By Allah I (a.s.) love you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said to him: ‘You are lying’. He said, ‘Glory be to Allah , O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.)! I am swearing by Allah that I love you (a.s.), and you (a.s.) are saying: ‘You are lying’?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘And what would make you know that Allah Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years (millenniums) and Settled them in the air. Then He Presented these to us (a.s.) People (a.s.) of the Household. By Allah ! There is no soul from these (Shias) except and I (a.s.) recognised its form. By Allah ! I (a.s.) did not see you among them, so where were you?’ Abu Abdullah (a.s.) said: ‘He was in the Fire’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ آدَمَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فَقَالَ كَذَبْتَ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ كأن [كَأَنَّكَ‏] تَعْرِفُ مَا فِي قَلْبِي فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَيْنَا فَأَيْنَ كُنْتَ لَمْ أَرَكَ.


3. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Ja’far Bin Bashir, from Adam Abu Al Hassan, from Ismail Bin Abu Hamza, from the one who narrated it, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) having said: ‘A man came to Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) and said, ‘By Allah , O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.)! I love you (a.s.)’. He (a.s.) said: ‘You are lying!’ The man said, ‘Glory be to Allah ! It is as if you recognise what is in my heart’. Ali (a.s.) said: ‘Allah Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years, then Presented them to us (a.s.). So, where were you? I (a.s.) did not see you!’’




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ آدَمَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ اللَّهِ‏ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ كَذَبْتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ كَأَنَّكَ تَعْرِفُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي قَالَ‏ فَغَضِبَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ رَفَعَ يَدَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ قَالَ كَيْفَ لَا يَكُونُ‏ ذَلِكَ وَ هُوَ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ثُمَّ عَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا الْمُحِبَّ مِنَ الْمُبْغِضِ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُكَ فِيمَنْ أَحَبَّنَا فَأَيْنَ كُنْتَ‏.


4. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Ja’far Bin Bashir, from Adam, from Abu Al Husayn, from Ismail Bin Abu Hamza, from the one who narrated it, From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) having said: ‘A man came to Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) and said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.)! By Allah , I love you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said to him: ‘You are lying’. The man said to him (a.s.), ‘Glory be to Allah ! It is as if you (a.s.) recognise what is within my soul’. He (a.s.) said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) was angered and he (a.s.) raised his (a.s.) hands towards the sky and said: ‘How can that not happen to be and He is our Lord Blessed and Exalted! He Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years (millenniums), then Presented to us (a.s.) the one who loves (us (a.s.)) and the ones who hate (us (a.s.)). By Allah ! I (a.s.) did not see you among the ones who love us (a.s.). So, where were you?’’




حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلَّامُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ جَالِساً عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع إِذْ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فَسَأَلَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ الْأَرْوَاحَ خُلِقَتْ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ثُمَّ أُسْكِنَتِ الْهَوَاءَ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ ائْتَلَفَ هَاهُنَا وَ مَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ اخْتَلَفَ هَاهُنَا وَ إِنَّ رُوحِي أَنْكَرَ رُوحَكَ.


5. It is narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Muhammad, from Ibrahim Bin Muhammad, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Hashim who said, ‘It is narrated to me by Sallam Bin Abu Umeyr, from Umara who said, ‘I was seated in the presence of Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) when a man came and greeted unto him (a.s.), then said: ‘O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.), by Allah , I love you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) asked him, then said to him: ‘The souls were Created before the bodies by two thousand years, then they dwelt in the atmosphere, so whatever recognition it, it is from these. Then they get together over her, and whatever they deny is from these. Then they differ over here, and my (a.s.) should denies your soul’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ ع وَ اللَّهِ مَا تُحِبُّنِي فَغَضِبَ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ كَأَنَّكَ وَ اللَّهِ تُخْبِرُنِي مَا فِي نَفْسِي قَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ ع لَا وَ لَكِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ فَلَمْ أَرَ رُوحَكَ فِيهَا.


6. It is narrated to us by Abu Muhammad, from Imran Bin Musa, from Yunus Bin Ja’far, from Ali Bin Asbat, from Muhammad Bin Al Fuzeyl, from Abu Hamza Al Sumali, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.): ‘A man said to Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.), ‘By Allah , I love you (a.s.)!’ – three times. Ali (a.s.) said: ‘By Allah ! You do not love me’. The man got angry and said, ‘By Allah ! It is as if you (a.s.) are informed of what is within myself’. Ali (a.s.) said to him: ‘No, but Allah Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years, and I (a.s.) did not see your soul therein’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي الْبِلَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ: دَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُلْجَمٍ لَعَنَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فِي وَفْدِ مِصْرَ الَّذِي أَوْفَدَهُمْ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ره وَ مَعَهُ كِتَابُ الْوَفْدِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا مَرَّ بِاسْمِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُلْجَمٍ قَالَ أَنْتَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَ مَا وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ قَالَ كَذَبْتَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا تُحِبُّنِي ثَلَاثاً قَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَحْلِفُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيْمَانٍ أَنِّي أُحِبُّكَ وَ أَنْتَ تَحْلِفُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيْمَانٍ أَنِّي لَا أُحِبُّكَ قَالَ وَيْلَكَ أَوْ وَيْحَكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ‏ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ‏ فَأَسْكَنَهَا الْهَوَاءَ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا هُنَالِكَ ائْتَلَفَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ مَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ إِنَّ رُوحِي لَا تَعْرِفُ رُوحَكَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ إِذَا سَرَّكُمْ أَنْ تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى قَاتِلِي فَانْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا قَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ أَ وَ لَا تَقْتُلُهُ أَوْ قَالَ تَقْتُلُهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَعْجَبُ مِنْ هَذَا تَأْمُرُونِّي أَنْ أَقْتُلَ قَاتِلِي لع.


7. It is narrated to us by Abu Muhammad, from Imran Bin Musa, from Ibrahim Bin Mahziyar, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhab, from Ibrahim Bin Abu Al Bilad, from his father, ‘From one of the companions of Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) who said, ‘Abdul Rahman Bin Muljim (la), may Allah Curse him (la), entered to see Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) among a delegation of Egypt whom Muhammad Bin Abu Bakr had delegated, and with him was a letter of the delegation. He (the narrator) said, ‘When he passed by the name of Abdul Rahman Bin Muljim (la), he (a.s.) said: ‘You (la) are Abdur Rahman (la)? May Allah Curse Abdul Rahman (la)’. He (la) said, ‘Yes, O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.). By Allah , O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.), I love you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said: ‘You (la) are lying, by Allah , you (la) do not love me (a.s.)’ – three times. He (la) said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.)! I (la) am swearing three oaths, I (la) love you (a.s.), and you (a.s.) are swearing three oaths that I (la) do not love you (a.s.)’. He (a.s.) said: ‘Woe be unto you!’ Or ‘Alas! Allah Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years, and Settled them in the air. So, whichever recognised over there get together over here in the world, and whichever of these denied get together in the world, and my (a.s.) soul does not recognise your soul’. He (the narrator) said, ‘When he (a.s.) became ruler, he (a.s.) said: ‘When it cheers you to look at my (a.s.) killer, then look at this one’. One of the people said, ‘Or will you (a.s.) not kill him?’ Or said, ‘Kill him!’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Who is more astounding than this one instructing me (a.s.) to kill my (a.s.) killer’’.




مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ آدَمَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ كَذَبْتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ كَأَنَّكَ تَعْرِفُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي قَالَ فَغَضِبَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ رَفَعَ يَدَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ قَالَ كَيْفَ لَا يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ وَ هُوَ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ الْأَرْوَاحَ قَبْلَ الْأَبْدَانِ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ ثُمَّ عَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا الْمُحِبَّ مِنَ الْمُبْغِضِ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُكَ فِيمَنْ أَحَبَّنَا.


8. Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Ja’far Bin Bashir, from Adam, from Abu Al Husayn, from Ismail, from Abu Hamza, from the one who narrated it, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.): ‘A man came to Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) and said, ‘O Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.), by Allah , I love you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said: ‘You are lying!’ The man said to him (a.s.), ‘Glory be to Allah ! It is as if you (a.s.) recognise what is within myself’. He (Abu Abdullah (a.s.)) said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) got angry and raised his (a.s.) hand towards the sky and said: ‘How can that no happen to be and He , our Lord Blessed and Exalted, Created the souls before the bodies by two thousand years, then Present the loving one to us (a.s.) from the hating one. By Allah ! I (a.s.) did not see you being among ones who love us (a.s.)’’.
