1. My father said, ‘Sa’ad Bin Abdullah narrated to us, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from the one who mentioned it, from Hanan Bin Sudeyr, from his father who said, ‘I asked him (a.s.) (5 (th) Imam (a.s.)) about Fasting on the day of Arafaat (9 (th) Zilhajj), so I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)! They are claiming that it is equal to a year’s Fast’. He (a.s.) said: ‘My (a.s.) father (a.s.) did not Fast’. I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)! And why not?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘The day of Arafaat is a day of supplications and asking, so I (a.s.) fear that it would weaken me (a.s.) from the supplications, and I (a.s.) dislike it that I (a.s.) should Fast it, and I (a.s.) fear that the day of Arafa should be the day of Al-Azha (sacrifice), and it is not a day of Fasting’.
